Some jewellery begins with a diamond. Some begins with a design brief. And some begins with a feeling that is difficult to put into words.
For Manifest Your Perfect Piece, My Jewellery Shop joined Pass Around The Smile to invite people to imagine a piece of jewellery that could hold a personal intention, memory, or dream.
From the entries, two winning ideas were selected: Dorothy’s bold, contemporary ring from Sydney and Millie’s deeply personal gold band from the Gold Coast.
What began as two sketches has now been brought to life as two finished custom pieces—each distinct in style, but united by the meaning behind it.
Dorothy’s Sydney design: modern, minimal and confidently different
Dorothy’s idea began with a clean, geometric sketch and a clear direction: a contemporary open-front ring without a stone.

The finished design was crafted from sterling silver and completed with polished yellow gold plating. Two sleek rectangular bars form the open front, creating a strong architectural silhouette while preserving the simplicity of Dorothy’s original idea.
A smooth rounded band, gently tapered shoulders, and a high-shine finish soften the geometry and make the ring feel refined and comfortable for everyday wear.
The result is minimal without being quiet—a modern statement piece that feels just as considered worn alone as it would layered with other rings.
More importantly, it feels unmistakably personal: Dorothy’s vision, translated from a hand-drawn idea into a finished piece she can hold and wear.

Millie’s Gold Coast design: a golden reminder
Millie’s entry began with an intention:
“Manifesting my dreams, a reminder. I deserve to feel beautiful every day.”

Her finished ring was created in 9ct yellow gold with a soft half-dome profile. Its polished outer surface gives the piece a timeless warmth, while thoughtful semi-hollow detailing inside the band adds an intricate and personal finishing touch.
The completed design feels calm, luminous, and quietly powerful. It is a piece made not only to be worn, but to return to—a golden reminder of self-belief, confidence, and the dreams Millie holds close.
The sentiment behind the design is what makes it especially meaningful. Jewellery can mark milestones, but it can also honour the promises we make to ourselves.

Two winners, two expressions of meaningful jewellery
Dorothy’s open-front ring is bold and geometric. Millie’s rounded gold band is warm and symbolic. Side by side, the two pieces show how differently a personal idea can take shape.
There is no single definition of the perfect piece.
It may begin with a particular material or silhouette. It may begin with an heirloom, a memory, or a few lines drawn on paper. Sometimes, it begins with an intention that someone wants to carry into everyday life.
That is the beauty of custom design: the finished jewellery does not need to look like anyone else’s. It only needs to feel true to the person who will wear it.
From a first sketch to a finished piece
Bringing these winning designs to life meant looking beyond the sketch to understand what each winner wanted the piece to express.
The proportions, materials, finish, structure, and wearability all needed to support the original idea. Our role was to refine each concept while protecting the quality that made it personal in the first place.
The result is more than a pair of beautiful rings. It is a celebration of creativity, individuality, and the meaning jewellery can carry when someone is invited to imagine freely.
Congratulations, Dorothy and Millie. It was a privilege to bring your ideas to life.
And thank you to Pass Around The Smile for joining us in creating a collaboration centred on intention, confidence, and jewellery with a story.
What would your perfect piece look like?
Your idea does not need to begin as a technical drawing. It can begin with a story, a feeling, a memory, or a simple sketch.
If you have been imagining a piece that feels completely your own, the My Jewellery Shop team would be honoured to help you explore what is possible.
